I LOVE the poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson. They touch this mother deeply. Sadly poetry, something even the manliest of men would quote and pen is being lost to many of the the younger generation. My own included.

Oh to go back in time, just an hour or so for each year of my children's lives! How quickly the time goes! My youngest now seven, my middle almost driving, my oldest not quite 19, and a father himself. Do you ever long for a few more moments in the rocking chair singing lullabies, or laughing at your little one's joy in the simplest of things? Sometimes my heart aches for it.

Hello Friends!

When I first started this little blog in a tiny corner of cyber space I had a bit of an idea of what I wanted to do...... I haven't done hardly any of it!!! I keep having camera problems, time and health issues, yadda, yadda, yadda. It can be time suckingly addictive! I haven't been spending the time I should, or would, like. It is easy to get lost in the wonder and joy of blogland! I hope to re-vamp in the next few months, parcel out my time into a better schedule, and actually turn Home and Heart into the place I originally envisioned when I started.

Happy Wednesday Friends!

We have all had the flu and sore throats at the Home and Heart household. Since I am behind there will be no link up today. :-( I hope you are all feeling better than we are. My poor little grandson had to go to the Dr. he has RSV, a respiratory infection. SO scary! He thankfully seems to be doing better.

Ladies I don't know how you do it! All the creating, blogging and homemaking, and taking pictures of it all too! You are amazing!

This weeks pic is a paperclay pendant I made that was inspired by one I saw in one of the Somerset magazines. Paperclay is totally addictive! I tinted it a very pale pink with stamp ink.

Hello Dear friends!

As you can see I have not been online much. Life has a way of doing that to a gal! I am sorry I haven't gotten back to some of you. I have not forgotten! I appreciate your notes, and comments. I hope life is treating you with kindness.

Now for the BIG news!! I am a grandma!! I have a beautiful new grandbaby!! Although I wish it was at least 5 years or so in the future! I am thrilled none the less. Family is so important to me. Who knew an old broad like me would be so happy for stinky diapers, spit up, more sleepless nights worrying...............Oh but that new baby scent!!! The perfect soft little feet, sweet face. *Sigh*

Hey It's ME!!! Remember me??
I remember you!!! Although now I must let you that I am a multi millionaire. Yep. It MUST be true, it was on the internet. So far not less that 15 people have contacted me saying I am owed MILLIONS. Amazing how total strangers want to give me, little ol' me, who knows no-one in Africa, or India HUGE amounts of cash. As a matter of fact I may now own parts of Africa. My wealth allegedly totals around 45 million. YET almost everyday, another total stranger wants to send me money.

Don't worry, I will remember all the little people, who knew me before a was a gajillionaire. Oh, yeah I also have a date tonight with Elvis. The aliens returned him!!

I know I have been slacking on my posts. Uh'hem. I probably won't be back to "normal" (word used loosely here) for another few weeks. Here are a few things I swapped with the fabulous Marie Group Member Terri Her creations are gorgeous. I was so busy greedily ripping into her package I forgot to take pics of the gorgeous goodies she sent. I sent her a velvet bookmark, pin, and one of my bracelets. This week in addition to what I made, I would love to share with you a lovely creation made by the always kind Marjanne over at Couleurs et Fantaisies. Doesn't EVERYTHING sound more wonderful in French??? I love the way she used the image. Please stop in and say hello to her.

The necklace was a gift to the absolutely wonderful Julie. Of a Vintage Chic. That gal can do everything! In addition she always has a kind word for everyone. She is one of my blog (S)hero's. ( Female Hero) I am sure she would love a visit as well!

Happy December Everyone!
It is hard to believe yet another month has been here and gone. Where does the time go? I firmly believe time goes by faster once you have children. Or at least you notice it's passing faster. Each tick of the clock is marked by their milestones. A birth, first tooth, first steps. Then one day you wake up, and they are off to kindergarten!

Kindergarten is quickly followed by grade school, middle school, then high school. You went from baby to adult in what seems like a moment. Almost two decades pass in what seems an instant. As another year quickly comes to an end, and another approaches, I hope you are surrounded by those you love. Whether wrapped in their arms, or just their memories, I hope joy, hope and love find us all.

THE PEEPING TOM!

Greetings Dear Friends!!

FIRST The APOLOGY~ Please forgive me for being neglectful of you!! It's been one thing after another around here, including tummy flu that had my littlest in the hospital. I thought he came back from his dad's with food poisoning. NOPE. So beware it's going around!!

SECOND~ A PEEPING TOM EEEEK! ~ I, like many, wear contact lenses. I am blind as a bat without them. Seriously. The day before the big snow here I added some WINTER decor to my youngest son's room, (my teens REFUSE to let me put snowmen on their beds anymore) including this snowman cling that was meant for your car window. Well needless to say, I woke up the next morning while it was still almost dark, and in my blindness saw this HIS profile in the window!! I freaked out!! When I finally got a grip. I realized WHAT HE was.. My son was at his dad's and I had forgot to close his curtains. Yep. I was being peeped by a snowman. *SIGH* My teens tell me they are going to put me in Shady Pines.

THIRD The reason you have probably read this far. ( The method to my madness) The WINNNER!!!! It has taken me some time to verify the entries and such. Happy Friday Dear Friends!

It really feels like Winter has arrived! The cold nights, and frost kissed branches sparkle in the early morning's thin sun. The perfect weather for drinking mugs of spiced tea or hot cocoa WITH whipped cream, while reading or creating.

Candles and oil lamps add visual warmth as well. I love the way candlelight sparkles off a prism, and it's soothing to watch the flickering shadows dance on walls and ceilings.

Happy Midweek Dear Friends!

I hope you are all having a wonderful week. I am still terribly behind on catching up with you. This week's post shows how you can do more with beads than make jewelry. I added beads to these prisms to make them a bit fancier. You can customize and make them any color you like. The candle holder was bronze, and I wanted white. The earrings were a gift to a blog friend, Shelley, over at Bungalow Bling. Turns out she only lives about 20 minutes or so from me! It's a small world.

Hello Everyone!

I have been discovering some wonderful blogs, and am continually thrilled by what I see on the ones I visit often.

This week is more of the "little pockets" I have been emailed and and asked for the tutorial, but it was a limited giveaway I don't have permission to share. I respect the gift and the giver. However I can tell you how I made them! These were in a Stampington publication, also made with wax. I still haven't ventured there.

They are made from recycled paper towel tubes! Yep! You read it right!

1. Measure about 3 inches of paper towel tube, and cut. You can also add a curve to the top.

2. Pinch the sides so they form kind of a <> shape.

3. Cover them with paper and decorate how you like.

4. I glued fringe into the bottom, then pinched and glued it closed.

5. I punched holes in the sides, and threaded wire through the top, to which I added beads to, then twisted the sides around to hold.

6. Add a piece of tulle ribbon, gluing a button or other pretties, add glitter if you like.

7. Fill with a little gift and some crinkle shred.

I hope this makes sense, I didn't take pictures.

Hello Friends!

October is flying by! We have been fortunate here to have been having some gorgeous Autumn weather. This weeks images are roses. I LOVE roses! ( And Lilacs, and peonies, and hollyhocks, and.......you get the point!) I am a hopeless romantic. Although I am on my second divorce, I believe in true love. It may not be for everyone, but I am glad for those who find it. Roses remind me of it. Love that is true, and although there may be problems, like thorns, the beauty of it always prevails.

Happy Wednesday Dear Friends!!

So what did I make this week? An apron card for a swap. It's pattern is from Stampington and Co.'s "Tempting Templates" , just click and it will take you there. I made a tiny tag that has a recipe for a happy family (Crafty Secrets) tucked in the apron pocket. The background is vintage wallpaper, the overskirt and ruffle are made from an old book.

Hi!

I have temporarily have use of a camera! No, I still haven't purchased one. Talk about commitment issues! :-) This is a cuff I made for my partner in Honey Lamb and I's cuff swap. I had the sweetest partner! I will post pics of what I received soon.

The cuff is made from a vintage crochet piece. I hand stamped and used the burning technique on the flower. It is trimmed with freshwater pearls and vintage rhinestones, and crystal beads. I also included a charm bracelet for her.

Hello Dear Friends!

I love the bright and sunny days we have been having. The air is chilly at night, and often accompanied by the scent of woodsmoke. I recently purchased the ingredients to make mulled cider. A favorite with my kids, it wouldn't be Fall without it!! I love to hear about your Autumn enjoyments.

I wanted to post some images whose colors reminded me of the leaves that drop from the trees, to take their turn dancing in the wind. What a beautiful gift this season is, all wrapped up in it's amber, gold and orange finery.

I hope your Autumn has been as lovely and sunny as mine! I love the sunshine, but hate the heat so the weather has been perfect for me! This weeks project was sent to Lisette in the Netherlands as a thank you for a lovely ribbon giveaway I won. A big thank you to her for the use of the pics!!

Another week passes Dear Friends. Time flies so much more quickly now. My age is marked by the growth of my children. Why is it that when my son learned to walk, it was it my back aching?? Where did these grey hairs come from??!!! (Teenagers, I am SURE!!)

One of the things I still think look wonderful no matter how old, are antique black and white images. They are all the prettier devoid of color. I love them made into iron ons and stitched to pillows, book covers, or bags. They also make beautiful notecards. I hope you like them.

Hi Dear Friends!

Autumn is one of my favorite times of year. Spring is the other. I love everything about this Season, it ignites the senses!! The riotous color of leaves, so bright and beautiful. As a child I enjoyed the crackly sound they made when you walked on them. The smell of woodsmoke always brings back memories, the thin wisps rising from chimneys. Pumpkins, mums and scarecrows perched on door steps to welcome family and guests alike. Who doesn't thrill at the sight of a giant harvest moon??

However my most favorite, is the kitchen arts. My step-mom makes the BEST pumpkin bread ever!! It's a beautiful loaf, a rich orange color, moist and redolent with spices, it's synonymous with the fall. Let's not forget pumpkin butter, another delicious treat. Especially yummy on whole grain bread, maybe with a little smear of cream cheese. Remember the joy of those crisp and juicy apples. Pies, fritters, applesauce, cider and apple butter. Of course it wouldn't be Fall if we didn't mention the savory soups and stews. Whether you make them in a crock pot or they simmer away on the back of your stove. The whole house is perfumed with their yummy goodness.

So for those of you who like to share your Autumn bounty, whether a jar of preserves or spiced nuts, here are some labels for you to dress up your jars. I hope your season is warm and wonderful!!

Hello Wonderful Bloggers!!

As usual I am behind!! It just takes me forever to get things done. I often don't get around to, or feel like, plucking my eyebrows until I realize (or one of my son's oh-so-kindly-points out my resemblance to Bert from Sesame Street) I am looking like a Sasquatch!

The picture (*sigh* still no camera) of this weeks offering is courtesy of Paula and her wonderfully wild tag swap. I sent it to her as a hostess gift. You can't see all the little western charms, but there's a hat, cactus, six shooter, etc. Vintage brass and colorful buttons, and some charms created by yours truly. The Gift of Age

In this day and age of "Beauty Miracles" lipo, pulls, tucks, pinches, lasers, and scalpels, every magazine, TV show, and ad tells us we need to look "young." Even if we are decades out of our 20's and firmly settled in middle age, such as I am. Although I loathe to admit it, I am guilty of wanting to look younger, although I feel 100 years old!!

Yet there is a part of me that thinks we should embrace our age and love ourselves as we are. I no longer have any grandparents, yet I loved them as they were. My grandfather's green eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled. I remember with great fondness seeing his work worn and calloused hands shaping the granite or marble he turned into beautiful markers. Whether wrapped around his coffee cup or clasped in prayer, I wouldn't wish them to look younger. My grandmother's hair turned white early. She had it "done" each week. She wore red lipstick and was very striking. She didn't try to color or change her hair, she didn't need to. I would have been aghast if either of them had suggested changing anything!! To me they were perfect!

It seems that our old people are no longer valued and respected as in the past. Lovely grey haired grandma's who stirred up soups or read stories, their hands covered in now delicate and paper thin skin. Whose gentle and aged faces were beautiful. The lines showing where years of smiles have been. Grandfathers like mine who would read me stories, and let me stay up late watching westerns until my eyes burned. Thinning hair still combed in the same style for years. His deep, rich, voice singing the songs of the "Inks Spots" to me.

Yes, I miss seeing little old ladies with hats firmly placed on their blue hair shopping at Five and Dimes. Always in dresses with their clip on earrings. They always had the smell of old time powder or perfume. I miss men holding open doors, making sure the lady always walked on the inside on the sidewalk, or helping her with her coat. Things I try and teach my own sons.

It instills great joy in me when I see two old people holding hands. Having a great love that has spanned years. The kind that has outlived fads, hard times and great changes. I hope for all of you love of family, friends, lack of want, and good health!

Reading..... 'Riting .......'Rithmetic....... Taught to the tune of a hickory stick............

I know school has started for some children already. Many making the trip for the first time. Their fresh scrubbed faces, pink cheeked and wide eyed, waiting to see that that big yellow bus. Mothers or Fathers, often teary eyed, nodding to them that it will be alright, as they take those first tentative steps through the swinging door.

The feel of fancy new backpacks, and little hands that haven't quite outgrown their baby-ishness hugging pencils. Their sound scratching across crinkly new paper. I don't think we ever forget the smell of crayons, no matter how old we get. Let's not forget the "I Love You" notes from mom, found in pockets, perhaps with a special treat.

Gone are the days of apples polished till they shown, sitting on a Teacher's desk. I haven't seen, or smelled paste in years! Yet I would recognize it anywhere, even now.

Here are a few images I hope you can use. Whether your children are off to school, or you are taking a trip there down Memory Lane. Just don't forget it's your turn to clean the blackboard!

I just wanted to share a tiny bit of my bedroom with you. This is a view of my soft pink dresser. (Why yes, that DARLING baby pic is me! TeeHee!) I MUST have candles and oil lamps, especially in the Fall and Winter. I love food scents, (go figure) pumpkin, cinnamon and spice, cloves, banana bread. In addition the warmth of a flame always makes me think of the comfort it must have brought in the time before electricity. The crystal lamp was a splurge bought years ago. The pretty pink vase and flowers are from my mom's home. I have a large white mosquito net over my bed that puddles to the floor. Just for looks, not mosquitoes! The last picture is a view through the netting at night. Thanks for the visit, and stop by and see me again!

A Little Home Will Hold As Much Love As A Big One

I love this saying. I have used it often over the last few decades. (Ugh, did I say that??!) With a "little person" as a son, I think it fits just as well for people. A little heart can also hold as much love as a larger one. I am slowly turning my new place into my new home, starting with the bedrooms.

Everywhere my youngest goes he "adapts" to the things around them. Although many items in his room will need to be changed as he is NOT a baby anymore. *Sniff* He loves having things (in his words) "Just my size!" A nightstand cut down for a desk, a small blue dresser he can reach, curtains on rings he can open and close himself. So besides in his room, I have scaled down chairs for him inside and out.

I love the seasonal changes, and as the weather turns cooler, and nights become longer, the flicker of flameless candles add a comforting and safe light he loves. Warm flannel sheets, a cuddly fleece blanket, and quilts smoothed with a mother's loving hands are easy ways to welcome nighttime. I often make chamomile, or "sleepytime" tea as my oldest boys call it, add some honey and serve it in each child's special mug. A simple and inexpensive gesture even my eldest son still loves.

Thank you to my cousin who comes to visit and help me, I appreciate you SO much!! Thank you too for letting me use your camera! It has been AWFUL without one!

I don't have any crafty stuff to post for "What Are You Making?" Wednesday. However I would like to share with you some important info. I know we all worry about our kid's and our own safety. Most of you probably already know this, but for those of you who don't, you can find if

SEX OFFENDERS are living in your neighborhood. In the United States check out your County Sheriff's official site. Here in SNOHOMISH COUNTY Wa. the link is HERE.

You can see how many predators live within a half a mile to 2 miles from your home. It will tell you if they are level I II or III. What they were convicted of, how many counts, the sex and age of the victim(s), the general area they live in, and a photo.

I think being pro-active and staying informed, can at least hopefully help keep our children and our neighbors children safer.

Well so another Wednesday is upon us. First I have to say that I am constantly awestruck and often drooling over the way you all create things, and decorate your homes!! ( I know drooling is not at all attractive, but I can't help it!) *SIGH*

Here is a pic or two courtesy of Cassandra (Thank you!) of the hostess gifts I sent her for the Petite Bead Box swap. I wish I had had a camera! One is a pincushion and pins I put together, and the other is some bits from a little craft kit I made. I will let you decide which is which. I was trying to give the cup a bit of a French feel. In the craft kit, the pink jars I put together were filled with beads. I included a mini shaker filled with glitter, as well as a embellished tiny glass bottle that had some vintage rhinestones in it. Thanks for hanging in there with me!!!

My Dear Gentle Readers!! I have missed you these last weeks. Thank you so much to everyone who sent me messages and for your kind words and support. I have been catching up on my WAY behind e-mail. I am really looking forward to catching up on your Blogs. Thank you all so much! All I can say is, Murphy- of Murphy's Law has been living with me, and I am ready for his departure. It has been one thing after another. Blech!!

I think it's a well know fact that women need each other. Who else but another woman would understand why we just COULDN'T wear "that", the need for 20 sheets of similar scrapbook paper, tons of ribbon, beads and WHY that wood paneling would be better painted white!! Who else would spend hours, or days shopping for just the right thing for a room you would only know when you see it?? A womens arms are strong, how else could they pack a baby in one, and help up a friend with another? Her heart is large enough to include strangers.

Thank you to everyone who made room in your heart for me. Your support, creativity, and amazing kindness, humbles me to the core. Bless YOUR Hearts.

I have had a hard weekend. As some of you know from other posts, it is the end of my second marriage. I am trying to move out of our house into my new place, as well as cleaning out my mom's home.

My two eldest boys are with their dad, and my youngest was to spend the last half with his dad. Needless to say I am a bit down and feeling very melancholy, and yet it gets worse.

My husband (we haven't even filed separation papers yet) brings the girl he is spending the weekend with over to OUR house to pick up my son.*SURPRISE*

They are all staying together with some other friends camping. It goes without saying I have SERIOUS issues with this. My son, his dad, and the girlfriend in the same tent besides.

Well to make a very long, weepy story short, a wonderful RAK package arrived from Elizabeth
Her creations are just wonderful and she is a master story teller. A true gift, that cheered me up when I needed it. It's a darling flamingo that reminds me so of my mom. She hosted a party for her girlfriends usually in July. It was a tropical theme with LOTS of flamingos. So luckily I found the red bracelet (I was making it with Elizabeth in mind) and finished my other "Wednesday" projects, to send to her.

My apologies for the long post. I needed to vent. I'd usually call my mom, and I think every person I know is out of town. Thanks for the listening ear!!

A Pink Friend~ Little Pink Studio

I don't know about you, but I don't take pictures of 90% of the items I make. I am not a good photographer, I HATE to scan. Luckily for me there are wonderful people out there who can, and do!

I started getting to know Cerri of the "LITTLE PINK STUDIO" about a year ago on Flickr. I sent a small "feel better" to her mom, and a similar set to Cerri.

FREE Image Friday (okay.. Saturday!!)

I am a bit late posting Friday's usual images. I have spent the last several days with out of town family sorting through my mom's stuff. She was a bit of a hoarder. Oh, not your old string, plastic pop bottle, and used napkin kind, but we she had at least 40 pairs of glasses. Who needs that many, besides an optical store??? My not-so-happy-to-help-sons have decided they are going to call me each year and say "Okay... your another year older, get rid of some crap so we won't have to when you're gone!!!" Don't you just feel the love??

I posted this image of the tinted photo of the girl with the pink cheeks about a year or so ago on Flickr. I have seen it in lots of places since then. I have more images on my Flickr stream too, if you are interested. Some may get posted here!!

On a side note I haven't had enough time to check out ALL fabulous Sorority Sisters Blogs!! I hope to catch up on Sunday or Monday!! I hope you all have a great weekend!!

SORORITY RUSH!!!!! In Washington State (and SURPRISE giveaway!!)

The lovely Karen at Some Days are Diamonds has started a wonderful blog sorority!!! We all had a challenge to use this image in some way. I FORGOT the take a picture of the item with ourselves part. Since no one of camera operating age is home now, I am sorry it will have to wait!! (My youngest takes great pics of the floor and ceiling!!) Okay I cheated and added a tiny pic of the item to a photo I already had!! (It's not obvious is it??) Tee Hee!

I made a pin using Tim Holtz acrylic pieces, and adding a resin rose which I hand set a vintage rhinestone in, as well as glass beads, and pearls.

The pendant is actually a laminated image that I soldered. I didn't have a glass piece big enough. Then I added glass beads, a broken jewelry piece, rhinestone spacers and a Czech glass bead. I made FOUR pieces. One came out okay. Needless to say, I am new at soldering. I have RUINED a ton of things practicing!!

Now for the SURPRISE part!! I am going to send one of these pieces to Karen and the other to a lucky Sorority sister who participated in todays Blog hop. Just leave a comment saying you want to be in the drawing Sunday Night June 27th.

I made this bracelet with a blogger I admire in mind. However, I recently put it away somewhere where I wouldn't lose it. Now if I can only remember WHERE that is???? It must be with those socks from the dryer....my car keys....and what is left of my mind!!!

Oh and P.S. It's made with vintage buttons, glass beads in red and opal white, as well as glass pearls, vintage plastic fruit, a kitschy candy piece, as well as some gingham pieces I made from brads.

The Face of Dwarfism

I LOVE the happiness my youngest son exudes. He is well loved and knows it. We have no history of dwarfism on either side of his family. The experts at Children's Hospital told us that they found that 80% of children with dwarfism were born to fathers over 40. True in our case. Still, I have never felt ashamed of him. To the contrary it makes him all the cuter. Being a "little person" or "LP" really has never been much of an issue yet. You run into the occasional "uneducated" (a nice way to say rude) person. I hate the word "midget" however. It is hurtful and derogatory. I am not really crazy about "dwarf" either. He is just a little boy....... A short little boy. Not a caricature from a Disney film. The LP community accepts that "dwarf" is an acceptable title. If anyone has a right to decide, they do. As he gets older though, it gets a bit tougher. He is the height of an 18 month old child, even though he is 6. He is little among the little!! I worry about when he starts school, his safety, other kids, other parents, well, EVERYTHING!!

I LOVE this picture taken last year with a clown at the Thomas the Tank Engine event last year. He was SO happy. He is crazy for Thomas!! He looks so much like my dad his grandpa. My little guy has to have an operation on his eyes. I have also decided as I get older, I am going to become a professional clown. I can wear LOTS of make-up, so people have to work harder to guess my age!!

Happy Wednesday to you all!!! Last night my son had his graduation ceremony. I was so proud!! However even though I knew the day was coming, and it's a good thing, it was still painful. Kinda like a shot in the rear end!!

On a different note, I started a Somerset magazine inspired group on Swap-Bot.
These are some pendants I made to give to the wonderful gals who host some awesome swaps!! I hope to be posting a lot more craft ideas, goodies, and decor in the near future!

Another week has passed so quickly!! I hope all of you are having a wonderful Spring so far!!! Here is this Wednesday's post. However I made it about two months ago, so I am cheating a bit!! I just love the wonderful names and themes Bloggers use for the days of the week. Tag and Teacup Tuesday, for example. So I thought I would coin a term for Wednesday that shows something I've been working on. I LOVE seeing all the beautiful creations being made by others!!

This is a bracelet I finished a few weeks ago. I named it " Marie's Lady in Waiting" It is made with a vintage earring, vintage buttons, glass pearls, vintage rhinestones I hand set into resin roses, a few Swarovski crystal beads, a few framed charms I made, as well as a few crown, fleur des lis and Eiffel Tower charms. Even if the famed Tower was built after Marie's time, I had to add it! It circles one of my very first roses.

In honor of my mom , I am giving away this bracelet that includes some of her favorite things. She was crazy for jewelry!!
Pink was her favorite color, roses her favorite flower. These I hand set vintage rhinestones in. A heart because we loved each other, a bird representing her, and a nest and eggs to represent my brother and I. Only one wing, because I am missing her so, and will have to learn to "fly" without her. A key, for all the doors she opened, symbolic and otherwise. She loved vintage, so there are vintage mother of pearl buttons, as well as real freshwater pearls and crystal and glass beads.

A Broken Heart and Mourning in Black

I don't exactly know why I am posting this. Maybe I need to put my feelings into words, to let some of the pain out, to sob uncontrollably. My Mom, best friend, fellow thrift store hunter, antique-r, crafting partner in crime, beloved mother died unexpectedly due to cancer complications. I want to scream, and throw things, stomp my feet, shout. ANYTHING to ease the incredible, all encompassing, overwhelming anguish. I think I understand why in Biblical times they sat among ashes and tore their clothes. It gave you something to do when you can't do anything else. When you can barely breathe.

My mom was an incredibly, talented and creative woman, who sang beautifully, loved clothes, and of course shoes. She came alive when gardening. She has turned dirt patches into little Edens. She could make a silk purse out of a sows ear and loved to laugh. She adored her grandchildren, and loved my brother and me. We were not without our squabbles, so senseless now, in hindsight.

No matter HOW old we are, we never outgrow our need for our mom. Even as an adult she has smoothed my hair and soothed my tears, telling me it will be okay. Several times I have gone to call her, and remembered she is no longer there. If your mom is alive call her and tell her how important she is, and that you love her. I was grateful to be there holding her hand, until the end. She was surrounding by children and grandchildren. Heavily medicated, coma-like, I don't think she knew we were there. but I am glad I was.

This Poem has always made me cry, but all the more now.

Backward, turn backward, O Time in your flight,
Make me a child again just for to-night!
Mother, come back from the echoless shore,
Take me again to your heart as of yore;
Kiss from my forehead the furrows of care,
